Today we look at one of the most familiar events in the Bible and probably the one great event from the life and ministry of Jesus least understood, applied, and appreciated. What are the benefits to be found in the ascension of Jesus?
In Acts 7, Stephen confronts the religious establishment with truth and they’re not too excited because it doesn’t fit their version of truth. What do we do when we are faced with a truth of God that doesn’t fit our view of God? And how can we live a life that is shaped by God’s truth instead of trying to shape God into our version of truth? Living in God’s truth has consequences.
We are living in a world where temptation is coming at us 100 mph. Temptation comes in all different forms. The devil is smart…he’s going to come at us where we are the weakest. We see in the story of David and Bathsheba a recipe for disaster. David, when faced with temptation, did everything wrong. He blew it. What can we learn from David’s mistakes? What will you do the next time temptation is staring you in the face?
Life is filled with challenges. Some are bigger than others. In our message today we will look at the cast of characters in the story, their varied approaches to their big problem, and see the difference it makes when God is at the center of our plan.
In times of uncertainty, it is important to remember the things of God, eternal things. Today in these strange times, we find our anchor in the Lord’s Supper.
Who are you? What does it mean to be who you are? Identity relates to our basic values that dictate the choices we make. These choices reflect who we are and what we value. There is an endless amount of values that we can allow to determine our identity, but these values may not be aligned with how God defines us which creates an unfulfilling life.
Worship is what happens when a seeking soul finally looks beyond itself and encounters God. He is Creator, Redeemer, and Friend. The goal of worship is not what we feel or learn or do. The goal of worship is to experience God.
Life is hard and sometimes it feels like stuff just keeps getting piled on (i.e.: 2020). We can’t take it anymore! The feeding of the 5,000 reminds us that Jesus is in control…even when we don’t see it or feel it.
Not-So-Breaking News: our country is divided…especially politically. Everyone is so quick to defend “their side” that we often forget that, as Christians, we can’t let political party come before our call to follow Christ. If we are not careful, our politics and our political parties can become our idols.
On this special Sunday, Pastor Chad will revisit the same verse he preached from the first Sunday in the worship center in 2001 – John 3:16, as we focus on “God’s Great Love.” Whether in-person or online, we are one church with two expressions. Who we are as a people is wrapped up in the powerful message of this one simple verse, John 3:16.
