Special Needs
You created the deepest parts of my being. You put me together inside my mother's body. How you made me is amazing and wonderful.
— Psalm 139:13-14a
Special Friends is a special ministry. God has touched the hearts of the people at FBC Allen to reach out to families in our community who have children or family members with special needs.

Sunday Mornings
PRESCHOOL BIBLE FELLOWSHIP GROUPS (BFGs): Sundays | 9a or 10:30a | Bible-centered learning for preschoolers
We seek to provide the best learning environment for preschoolers of all abilities. For more information about our ministry to preschoolers with special needs, contact Nancy Wooldridge.
CHILDREN/PRETEEN BIBLE FELLOWSHIP GROUPS (BFGs): Sundays | 10:30a | CH201 | Bible-centered learning for children
Our goal is to show God’s love and to accommodate each specific need. Children and Preteen Special Friends BFGs use Lifeway’s “Special Buddies” curriculum which is based on biblical truth and is designed specifically for children with special needs. For more information, contact Lezah Maitland.
ADULT BIBLE FELLOWSHIP GROUPS (BFGs): Sundays | 10:30a | C105 | Bible study for adults
The Adult Special Friends class is a warm and welcoming atmosphere for adults full of laughs and biblical learning. After attending the 9 a.m. Worship Service, teachers are available to accompany anyone who may need assistance getting to their class. This class uses the “Access” curriculum by Lifeway. For more information, contact Freda and Dan Kendall.
EVENTS & ACTIVITIEs
PARENTS' NIGHT OUT: once a month night out for parents and caregivers
Grade school-age children, along with their siblings are invited to The Curb (FBC Allen's Student Center - map) for a time of music, games, a movie, and a snack. Each child is paired with a youth “buddy” for the evening. Buddies become friends and help in whatever way needed. Adults provide leadership and supervision at all times. Parents' Night Out meets one night a month during the school year. Reservations are required. For more information, contact Cindy Edamura.
ANGEL T-BALL: recreational league for children ages 5-18
Sponsored by the Allen Kiwanis Club, Angel T-Ball is a free program that provides a positive recreational opportunity for children with special needs who need a modified sports activity. Each year, there is a spring and fall season, each lasting for eight weeks. Every child is paired with a youth “buddy.” Athletic or physical ability is not necessary. For more information, contact Michelle Moore.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: week-long summer day-camp for children
Every June, we host a week-long Vacation Bible School (VBS) from 9a-noon for children who have completed grades K-5. Children of all abilities are invited to join us for a week of learning about God's plan and love for us. We share Bible stores, music, recreation, crafts, and skits. Each child is paired with a youth "buddy" who assists them during the week. These teens work under adult leadership and supervision. Enrollment begins in May. For more information, contact Shonda Smith or Michelle Moore.
WALKING BY FAITH: Christ-centered support for mothers of children with special needs
Parenting our children is rewarding, but sometimes it can get overwhelming. Join other moms who understand your journey and want to lift you along the way through practical and prayer support. This group meets during the school year on the third Wednesday of each month. Childcare is provided when reservations are made at least one week in advance. For more information, contact Stacie Smith.
