Some of us hoped to make this last Christmas a memorable one. Thanks to credit card bills coming due, we will remember it for months to come. In these uncertain financial times, God’s word speaks certain truth to us about our money.
This morning we conclude our series on the Ten Commandments – God’s guidelines for life. How do we find contentment in a coveting world?
Today our series on the Ten Commandments leads us to “you shall not steal.” Most people would declare their innocence on this command from God. Today we discover that God’s word reaches farther and deeper than we may have realized.
Honesty seems to be in short supply these days. As we continue our study of the Ten Commandments, we focus today on God’s call on each of us to value the truth and to live lives of integrity.
Jesus is called the “Author of life” in the Bible. Today, we address the commandment regarding murder. What does this command mean for us as followers of Jesus Christ who is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life?”
The issues are complicated and the sin destructive. Jesus taught, “You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:27-28, NIV). Today we address the sanctity of marriage and the biblical view of sexual purity.
Happy Mother’s Day! Today we continue our series of messages on the Ten Commandments. God values our family commitments and calls us to value them as well in the fifth commandment.
Are you busy? Is life hectic? Most of us would quickly say “Yes” to these questions? Do you think “busy,” “hectic,” “frazzled,” and “burned out” describe the life God desires for us to live? The fourth commandment is a gift from God to bring life back into order with a God-focus.
Today we continue our study of some key rules for the “Game of Life.” Like most of the Ten Commandments, we have reduced the third commandment to a prohibition against attaching God’s name to a curse word. Taking God’s name in “vain” involves much more.
Today we continue our series of messages on the Ten Commandments. God has given us these rules for living out the “game of life.” Following the rules helps the “game” go well. This morning we focus on the second commandment. It is not so out of date as some may think.
