Light in the Darkness

The apostle John says about Jesus, “In him was life, and that life was the light of men.” Jesus is the light of the world. But for some reason, people seem to be ok with living without the light. Darkness seems preferable. So how do we let a dark world know about the light of Jesus? Hint: it involves you and me. Read: John 1:6-9

Blue Christmas 2021

"The peace you've been searching for is here. The joy you've been waiting for is ready to be discovered." Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member who has recently died; it may be a time that has always been difficult. The constant refrains on radio and television, in shopping malls and churches, about the happiness of the season, about getting together with family and friends, reminds many people of what they have lost. The anguish of the death of a loved one can make us feel alone in the midst of the celebration and joy. We need space and time to acknowledge our sadness; we need to know that we are not alone. We need encouragement to live the days ahead of us.

The Light of the World

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12, CSB). As we begin our Christmas season, we celebrate Jesus, who still shines the light of God’s love, grace, and power into our world so darkened by sin and brokenness. John 1 is the Christmas story from John’s eternal perspective.

Big Things in Small Places

Today begins our new series, The Light of the World. Jesus came to this broken, dark world to shine the light of God’s love, joy, peace, and hope. We begin that journey with the Old Testament prophet Micah. In a little place called Bethlehem, God did some great work. We will look at three of those stories today. God sees and knows you and your story, and He knows where to find you too. Micah 5:2

Don't Forget

There’s a quote that says, “The biggest lie I tell myself is ‘I don’t need to write it down, I’ll remember it.’” We can all smile at that because we’ve been there. Too many times, we “forget to remember to not forget.” There are some things that God has called us to never forget, and fortunately for us, He wrote them down. We’re going to look at some amazing blessings that God has given us, and when these come to mind, the only appropriate response is to worship Him and give thanks. Psalm 103:1-5

Until Then

Jesus is coming again. We know that’s a fact. But what do we do until then? How do we live today in light of eternity? The last few verses of the book of Revelation give us some important reminders that provide us with confidence while we wait and instructions while we wait. The critical thing to remember, Jesus is coming soon, and he is victorious! Revelation 22:8-21

Experiencing Heaven/Experiencing God

In Revelation 21 we learned much about the glories of heaven. The picture of heaven in Revelation 22 becomes even more beautiful. Yet, what makes heaven – heaven, is not the streets of gold or gates of pearl or reunions with those we love. Heaven is being with the Lord. Read: Revelation 22:1-7

All Things New 2021

In Revelation 21, the recorded history of man is at its end. All of the ages have come and gone. Eternity is all settled and for the people of God – it is well with their souls! Today we visit heaven, with John the Apostle as our tour guide. Revelation 21:9-27

Hope of Heaven

We need hope today because of our own hurts, fears, and griefs. We need hope today because we need meaning in the world and a perspective that reaches beyond right now. Heaven is important to consider…not just because of what it offers us in the future. It is important because of what it does for us right now. Revelation 21:1-7
