Global Missions

How can a Christian make an impact? By knowing Christ and making Him known. Becoming a believer is just the beginning; it’s a lifelong journey of growing in Christ and sharing His love and message with others.

Jesus called His followers to influence the world, starting in their community and reaching out globally. We are committed to sharing the Gospel in our community, across our state, our nation, and around the world.

Go and Make Disciples

We are grateful for the men and women connected to First Baptist Church Allen who have answered God’s call to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Get to know those we support, pray for, and send.

Ben and Taverly Wingo

Collision — Allen / Frisco, TX

Ben and Taverly, both of whom grew up attending FBCA, serve as Field Directors in the DFW area with Collision, a ministry that partners with local churches to build and train student-led teams that share the gospel and multiply disciples in their schools and communities.

It was through evangelism training at FBCA that Ben found his life purpose. God called him to go public about Jesus and join in His redemptive work. Through the mentorship of his small group leader and pastor, he began making disciples by sharing the gospel and teaching the Bible at school, in the community, and at church. Taverly was similarly shaped by learning to share the gospel using simple tools. These experiences ignited a shared passion to see people everywhere come to know and follow Jesus.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for more laborers to be raised up for the harvest.
  • Pray for Ben, Taverly, the churches, and the students they serve to faithfully steward the ministry of reconciliation.

Erin Allen

Cru — University of Oklahoma

Erin Allen grew up attending First Baptist Church of Allen with her parents, Kyle and Cindy Hope. She now lives in the Oklahoma City area with her husband, Jordan, and their two children, Gentry and Camden.

Serving with Cru at the University of Oklahoma, her team focuses on evangelism to the lost and discipleship and leadership development through intensive discipleship of believers, including training them to share their faith. She leads Bible studies attended by many nonbelievers. Erin also serves as a Ministry Partner Development Coach, equipping and shepherding new and senior Cru staff to grow personally, spiritually, and vocationally.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray that the Lord would continue to draw students at OU to Himself and that students would accept Christ and take steps of faith.
  • Pray for Erin as she ministers to students, her church, and her family.

Katie Haning

ProgressBible — Austin, TX

Katie serves with ProgressBible in Austin as a Senior Analyst, supporting global Bible translation efforts. She is passionate about helping every language community know the story of God’s love for them.

Today, more than 1 billion people representing over 2,700 languages are still waiting to hear the life-changing message, “God speaks my language!” Through her work with ProgressBible, Katie strengthens the information systems and data that guide global Scripture access initiatives, providing clear, reliable insights that help ministry leaders make wise, strategic decisions to advance Bible translation.

Katie grew up in Lucas and graduated from Allen High School. Her parents, Ben and Nancy Haning, were active members of First Baptist Church Allen.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for wisdom, creativity, and dependence on God for Katie and her team as they advocate for language communities with little or no access to Scripture.
  • Pray that language communities still waiting for God’s Word will receive it soon and experience the abundant life found in Jesus Christ.

Greg Riley

Cru Military — Pensacola, FL

Greg, formerly a member of First Baptist Allen for 18 years, now serves full-time with Cru Military, ministering to active-duty Marines, Sailors, and Airmen in Pensacola, Florida.

As an Air Force veteran who led many mission trips to Russia and Poland, Greg felt called into ministry through Cru Military. Through personal relationships built on trust and consistency, he shares the love of Christ and invests deeply in military men and women. Greg currently leads Bible studies in three military barracks, bringing together believers and those who have not yet placed their faith in Christ.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray that God would work through Greg as he ministers to service members in demanding, high-stress environments.
  • Pray that God would raise up future military leaders who are fully devoted followers of Christ and faithful witnesses wherever they serve.

Mike and Megan Jones

Cru — University of Arkansas

Mike and Megan serve with Cru at the University of Arkansas. Both were raised in Allen, attending FBCA throughout their school years, where they came to faith, were baptized, grew in their faith and leadership, and eventually married in 2016. FBCA played a deeply foundational role in shaping their spiritual journey.

God called Megan into ministry in 2019 and Mike in 2023. Their mission is to reach college students with the Gospel, build them up in their faith, and send them out as lights in the world through their future careers and involvement in missions. They have found that reaching students during the university years is especially fruitful, as it is a pivotal time when many make important decisions about faith and the future.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray that God would lead Mike and Megan to students whose hearts He is already preparing to hear and receive the Gospel.
  • Pray for endurance and faithfulness as they invest long-term in God’s Kingdom through their ministry and as they raise their four boys.
