Shoes for Orphan Souls
It’s shoe time again! Running through September 12, a table will be set up in the Welcome Center to collect new shoes and socks for orphan children around the world. There is an extreme shortage of shoes, so please consider donating generously to this campaign. Your donation can include new shoes of any size, color or kind. Our goal is 400 pairs. You may also donate money through your church offering envelope. Be sure to note “shoes” on your donation. For more information about this project, please visit shoesfororphansouls.org.

http://www.fbcallen.org/uploads/bythebook.jpgDiscipleship "By the Book"
This year, FBC Allen adults will be challenged to discover their next steps through a monthly opportunity we are calling “By the Book.” Each month, beginning in September, a book will be selected that will challenge our church in some area of Christian discipleship. The books selected are strong in scripture and strong in a message that will help us become fully developing followers of Christ. Books will be available for purchase through the first week of the month through the church, and at the end of each month on a Sunday evening there will be an opportunity to dialogue with others who have read the book, to help us clarify and commit to next steps related to our reading. Be praying about being a part of this challenge of taking on 12 topics this year that will help you grow in Christ.

Coming Up:
In September, our membership is being challenged to read Pray Big by Will Davis, Jr. Books will be available for purchase in the Worship Center foyer on September 5 for $10. You might even want to download it onto your Kindle or smart phone. However you choose to get it, read it during the month of September and be challenged to strengthen your prayer life in BIG ways. For those who would like to have a roundtable discussion of the book, join us Wednesday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. in E103-105. During this time, folks can share what was helpful to them or get answers to something that was read but not understood.

I'll Need You!
Think back to the adults who made a positive difference in your life as a kid. Who are you doing that for now that you are an adult? And who are you doing that for in a way that inspires them toward a relationship with Christ? There are LOTS of ways you could impact a kid this year…

Mary Hill Davis Offering for Texas Missions
http://www.fbcallen.org/uploads/maryhilldavis10.jpgTexas is a large and growing mission field. Each September our church joins with other Baptist churches across our state to give to a special missions offering named for Mary Hill Davis. The offering is used in mission work in Texas, reaching into the unreached pockets of the state and starting new churches. Our church goal for the offering this year is $7,000. Give generously and make September a month of prayer for God’s work in Texas. Special offering envelopes are available in your mailed packets as well as in the pew racks.
